ahem…I think you have told a joke since this all started actually (and I told a cake-related one on Saturday if that counts?) and if you haven’t it’s about time you did as it’s all getting a bit serious I think.

OK, just to clear this up, ‘Jokes Told’ means ‘Tellings of the joke whilst sipping tea in a NMB’.

(is it ‘a NMB’, as in ‘a National Milk Bar’ or ‘an NMB’ as in ‘an em-en-be’. Oooh … quandries)

I’m trying to build up some dramatic tension here. The final act of the NMB quest may (or may not) mbe a telling of the joke in an NMB, which may (or may not) be reported on this site and so may (or may not) enlighten folks as to the whole raison d’etre (apologies to French, but I can’t be arsed to do all that accent-y stuff) of this web site and my Quest.

However, I’m sure I haven’t told any funny jokes. And I forget the cake one. Was it funny?

I think telling that joke as the final act of your quest may be a terrible anticlimax.

“An NMB” wins, I think. If you wanted “a National Milk Bar”, then you’d have written it out.
However, one’s local NMB is “The National Milk Bar”, not “a National Milk Bar”.

It may (or may not) be a terrible anticlimax. We’ll have to see.

Interestingly enough, when I was having a cup of tea in the National Milk Bar in Aberystwyth, the girl behind the counter was losing her patience with one annoying lad (presumably school friends or something) and threatened to ban him from “National Milk Bars” - so there is some kind of understanding that there is a whole set of them.
